The product development process is involved and complex and includes: research, functionality, modularity, ergonomics, styling, brand consideration, engineering, standard component sourcing and integration, along with material consideration and design for manufacture to name but a few parts of the process, which is only successful by true collaboration.
 
The design process should also ensure that the final design is innovative, it’s imperative at the concept development stage we create a detailed Product Brief highlighting: functionality, features and innovative processes, materials etc. At this stage we can carry out crucial IP checks to ensure we are not infringing OEM’s and have the ability to protect our product design features and innovation claims if required. We collaborate with UK based Patent Attorneys to ascertain if we can protect our design under the 1988 Copyright, Designs and Patents Act and/or the Trade Marks Act of 1994. This is important for entrepreneurs and established businesses where strong IP protection is crucial.

Design Services

  • Research/Feasibility

    Initial assessment to ensure that your project is realistic, achievable and marketable, analyze the competition, what volume do you realistically believe you can sell, this is fundamental to HOW the product is designed and manufactured, technology, materials, standard parts, processes and estimated production costs are all key factors to be considered before committing to designing and manufacturing a product.  All this data will help the decision-making process - is it worth continuing to develop, manufacture and protect? What will this product development deliver for your company and your customers?

  • Concept Development

    Our design team will develop your ideas through sketch and computer aided design work, this will bring your idea to life through product visualizations, renders and modelling which consider function, materials and production.

  • Patent Search

    We can work with patent researchers and Patent Attorneys to search and report on whether your idea appears novel and therefore potentially patentable.

  • Computer Aided Design (CAD)

    Using industry standard CAD software your idea will be developed in 3D on the computer. The resulting model can be viewed from all angles with exploded views and photorealistic visuals will be produced to demonstrate how your concept is likely to look in production.

  • Patent Drawings

    This stage produces very specific annotated images that are necessary for your patent application.

  • Prototyping

    Turn concept sketches or CAD model into real 3D object will really inspire investors, buyers or potential licensees. The advent of stereo lithography has revolutionized the prototyping stage with the ability to “Print” a range of metals and plastics. Depending on the design it may be more appropriate to CNC machine or fabricate a model.

  • Tech Sub

    Professional product presentation using the CAD model and photorealistic renders to demonstrate your product in use and highlight the key benefits. What it will do for your customers.

  • Design for Manufacture

    Refine the CAD models, parts drawings for the production techniques that will be used to manufacture your product - injection molding/die-casting/extruding/fabricating/PCB design and production/assembly processes, jigs required etc.

  • Testing and Certification

    Photometric/Thermal/IP/Structural/Safety, we have close links with numerous Domestic and offshore accredited test houses who can undertake all necessary and mandatory (CE/BS-EN/UL) testing as required.

  • Packaging Design

    Nothing looks more impressive or professional than a sample presented in the proposed product packaging. We can advise and design suitable packaging strategies depending on the product and the method of sale.

  • Manufacture

    Central to a good design is how its manufactured, Knowing the production processes and more importantly their limitations is key to successful production engineering. We have extensive experience in “MAKING” both in-house or OEM, if you need a manufacturer we can help find domestic and/or offshore partners for components or complete assemblies, we have a huge network of manufacturers developed over years of design & manufacture.
